CHOOSE HOODS
The hood is designed to take care of the air hygiene of the kitchen. These are particles of fat, soot and steam, which are constantly circulating in the kitchen and settle on the ceiling, furniture, walls and clothing, but most importantly - exhaled by the occupants of the house. The hood can be of different widths: modern manufacturers offer hoods with a width of 35 to 90 cm. The first thing to consider: hoods come in two types depending on the method of air purification.
The first type is exhaust hoods , which draw in air in the room and take it outside through the ventilation system to which they are connected.
The second type is cleaning or recirculation hoods , which include those models that do not connect to the ventilation system and clean the air themselves with the help of filters. They have a carbon filter that eliminates odors.
Let's pay attention to the criteria for choosing a hood.
Noise level . Any hood is noisy, but you should take care to choose a quieter model. It is desirable to prefer hoods with a noise level of up to 62 dB.
Power , or performance. Namely - the volume of air removed by the hood for 1 hour of work (cubic meters / hour). The hood should remove 10 volumes of kitchen space for 1 hour. Thus, to calculate the productivity it is necessary: multiply the volume of the kitchen by 10, but if the room is very often cooked and smoked, it should be multiplied by 15. The best option for a room of medium size - hood with a capacity of 650 to 1000 cubic meters / hour.
Hood control can be mechanical push-button, electronic push-button, and touch. Some hoods even have a remote control.
Filters . As we found out above, a carbon filter is mandatory in recirculation hoods. But it is also worth mentioning the fat-retaining filters, which release air from heavy particles, such as combustion products, fat and more. Such filters can be of the cassette type, they are easy to remove and can be washed in the dishwasher.
Lighting . Do not neglect such an important point as the presence of light sources on the hood: when cooking for cooking, the surface under the hood needs good lighting. However, you should choose "economical" light: for example, halogen or LED lamps, which consume a minimum amount of electricity.
